A new event aims to help students learn more about what they can gain by attending Stockton University.

“Discover Your Osprey Pathway” being held Tuesday is the creation of Danielle Martin, assistant director of Academic Advising for the School of Health Sciences.

“The goal is to help these students explore their academic options, connect with faculty, staff, students and industry professionals and ultimately discover a pathway that aligns with their passions and career aspirations,” she said.

Martin got the idea from a smaller event she used to run in the spring called Fall in Love with a Major, which used to be like “speed dating” as students were exposed to a bunch of different major and minors in a short period of time.

“Since the C/D Atrium was already reserved by the library, I had to move it to the Event Room in the Campus Center. so I had the opportunity to make it bigger,” Martin said. “That’s when I started to work with the assistant deans to get more programs involved and expand it.”

That’s also when she decided to expand the audience beyond just Stockton students without a major and include local community college students and high-schoolers in Stockton’s dual-credit program.

The university offers nearly 100 courses to high school students at discounted tuition rates through it’s Dual Credit Program.

“I thought could be another opportunity to show those students how beautiful our Galloway campus is and let them see all that Stockton has to offer before they make their college decision,” Martin said.

Attendees can talk to faculty, staff and industry professionals to learn more about Stockton’s majors and minors, concentrations and other special programs.

There will also be career advice opportunities during the event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Campus Center Event Room.
