A kayaker was rescued over the weekend by Ocean City police and firefighters after getting stranded on a sandbar in the frigid waters of Corson’s Inlet.
The rescue was made at 10:25 a.m. Saturday after the kayaker was “appearing to struggle overtop a sandbar in the inlet,” according to a Facebook posting by the Ocean City Firefighters Association.
Emergency crews launched a watercraft to rescue the kayaker, who was evaluated by ambulance personnel after he was brought back to shore. He was uninjured.
“A fast and coordinated response led to a positive outcome for the patient,” the Facebook posting said.
The kayaker’s name was not immediately released by authorities.
