The Surfrider Foundation South Jersey is planning its biannual Coastal Cleanup in Ventnor next week.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20 along the Wellington Avenue bayfront.
The family-friendly cleanup will eliminate trash and debris that collects along the bayfront across from the Ventnor Plaza shopping center. It is meant to educate the public about the dangers of plastic pollution.
Volunteers will pick up trash along the shoreline that could pose a danger to marine life. Data will be collected about what is found there so Surfrider can advocate for legislation that reduces pollution.
Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Meet at the AutoZone parking lot.
