Experiencing the atmosphere of a live game by being right there in the stadium gives you quite a buzz. Of course, tickets don’t come cheap, which is why many people head quite happily to a sports bar and follow the action there instead. You can enjoy community, tuck into some great food and savor good beer, all while the action unfolds.
Atlanta City is well-known for its casinos and boardwalk, but there are some fine sports bars in this resort city and the surrounding area. Have you studied the NFL lines, laid down a wager and now want to catch the game? Below are some of the best places to follow the action.
What better place to catch an NFL game than the Philadelphia Eagles’ official sports bar: Chickie’s and Pete’s? There are plenty of screens, so you don’t miss a minute of the action. Why not order yourself some of the bar’s Crabfries while you’re there? These crinkle-cut French fries are sprinkled with crabby spices and served with a cream cheese sauce. The bar, and indeed the chain, has become famous for them. Other signature dishes include mussels, crustaceans and Lisa’s Blonde Lobster Pie.
Dave and Buster’s spoils you with massive screens and surround sound, so you can see and hear every point scored and crunching tackle made.
The food here is fabulous, too, as the chefs keep the menu seasonal so that if you come here regularly, you don’t have to order the same dishes repeatedly. Not sure what to order? Why not share a sampler board with your friends? This gives you a chance to try game day favorites such as smash burgers and bone-in chicken wings. If you like what you taste, you can order the full course.
Ducktown Tavern is an entertaining bar and sits in the heart of the Ducktown neighborhood. The tavern proudly boasts its status as a host venue for the Knee High Knuckle Buster Micro Wrestling Championship, but will serve you just as well if it’s NFL action you’re looking for. The bar is surrounded by TVs so you can sip on a cold beer or get stuck into some of the tavern’s fantastic food fare during the game. The tavern is also proud of its outdoor bar, the Duck Hut, where you can follow the early games of the regular season outside in the sunshine.
Twenty minutes outside of Atlantic City, in Somers Point, is the cozy Charlie’s Bar. The business has been running since 1944 but moved to its location today in 1953 and has long been a part of the community. Screens surround the bar for you to keep up with the action, all while you get stuck into the tavern’s renowned wings and boneless breast tenders (BBTs). If you don’t fancy those, you can invest in local favorites, such as fried founder or patty melts; signature burgers; pasta; seafood; or other sumptuous dishes.
Tailgaters, in Galloway, offers lots of different sporting packages so that no matter who your team is, you get to see them play. NFL nights are good ones to get some bargain food and drink: Monday night you can take advantage of the “buy one, get one free” package on pizza; Thursday, they’ll knock a couple of dollars off their beers and cocktail menu; and Sundays, at 7 pm, you’ll get money off burgers, tacos, entrees and wines. They’ll also do two pizzas at $30 and bowls of chicken wings or tenders, or mussels, at $10. Whatever happens out on the gridiron, you won’t go hungry!
As you can see, Atlantic City and the surrounding area has plenty of splendid places to watch an NFL game and also grab some fab food and drink while you’re at it. If none of these are for you, you can also try A Dam Good Sports Bar, at 2831 Boardwalk.
