A Galloway Township driver died in a crash that injured several people Wednesday afternoon.
James T. Johnson, 83, was heading north on South Pitney Road at about 3:23 p.m., when he went around a vehicle stopped to make a left turn onto Collins, police said.
As Johnson went past the Lincoln Navigator on the left, he sideswiped the vehicle and then drove into oncoming traffic, according to the report.
Johnson's vehicle then struck a Mercedes GL4, which led to two other vehicles being struck, police said.
The driver of the Mercedes and a passenger involved in the accident were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus for non-life-threatening injuries.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Galloway Township police thanked Galloway Township Emergency Medical Services, Atlanticare Paramedics, Bayview Fire Department and Galloway Township Office of Emergency Management for their assistance with this accident.
Officers Cody Trout and Kaitlyn Reyes are investigating the crash.
