An Egg Harbor Township man barricading himself inside his home led to the eventual evacuation of a nearby school Wednesday.
Long Pham, 37, is accused of making a bomb threat to the Atlantic City International Airport on Jan. 10.
An investigation led to Pham, who was charged with false public alarm and terroristic threats, Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.
Members of the State Police Fugitive Unit assigned to the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force tried to arrest Pham at his home on Atlas Lane at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Shortly after the troopers arrived, Pham barricaded himself inside the residence, Lebron said.
The Joy Miller School in Egg Harbor Township was put on shelter in place.
A decision then was made to evacuate the students.
"Joy Miller students were placed on buses and moved to the High School," township Police Chief Fred Spano confirmed to BreakingAC.
Various State Police units, including T.E.A.M.S., K-9, Bomb, Target Hardening, Crisis Negotiation and the Troop "A" Criminal Investigation Office, responded to the scene.
Pham voluntarily exited his residence after a lengthy negotiation and was placed under arrest.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a hearing.
