Local fraternity members went to two Atlantic City schools Friday to read to kindergarteners for the National Day of Reading.
Members of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity's Atlantic City Alumni Chapter came bearing carefully selected books that they read the young students at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School Complex and Chelsea Heights Elementary School on Friday.
The initiative highlighted the power of literacy in shaping young lives while showing students the importance of community role models.
"The readings were more than just storytime, they were a celebration of knowledge, imagination and the shared joy of learning," chapter President James Pressley Sr. said.
The chapter gave special thanks to Superintendent, Dr. La'Quetta Small, the Atlantic City Board of Education, Principals Jodi Burroughs and James Knox, and staff from both schools for supporting the initiative.
Pressley also thanked the chapter brothers who took off from work to participate.
