A Pleasantville man is jailed for allegedly shooting into a car with six people inside, striking the driver in the head.
Hamilton Township police were called to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus at 11:47 p.m. Friday for a gunshot wound, police said.
Detectives Larry Murray and Nicole Odell found a crime scene at the Popeye's parking lot at 4616 Black Horse Pike, according to the report.
The detectives found bags, food and paintball spread throughout the area, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC. A spent 9mm shell casing also was recovered.
The victim told police there was a fight in the parking lot, and then the suspect shot into the vehicle, striking the driver — identified only as ISV — in the head. The victim then was driven to the hospital.
The shooter was identified as 18-year-old Christian Ruiz via a photo, the affidavit states. Another witness also positively identified him.
Ruiz is charged with 23 counts, including six counts each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault by pointing a firearm and aggravated assault by discharging a firearm into a vehicle.
He was arrested Tuesday, and is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
