Construction will temporarily close the Galloway Township branch of Atlantic County Library System starting Monday.
Renovations also will mean patrons at the Mays Landing branch will have to use the stairs.
The Galloway branch at 306 E. Jimmie Leeds Road is having a $2.5 million HVAC system installed. It is not expected to reopen until the fall, although the book drop box at the front of the building will remain open for those needing to return borrowed materials.
“Our libraries are key components of our communities,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said. “This is the fourth such project to improve the environment for our patrons and help us achieve greater energy and cost savings.”
HVAC systems previously were installed in county library branches in Hammonton, Egg Harbor Township and Mays Landing. Partial funding was provided through NJ State Library Construction Bond Grants and American Rescue Plan monies.
During the closure, patrons are encouraged to visit any of the library system’s other nine branches.
Look online for locations and hours or call 609-625-2776, ext. 6304. Patrons also may access digital media services and databases 24/7 on the website.
The elevator is being replaced at the Mays Landing branch at 40 Farragut Ave.
Patrons will be have to use the stairway to get to the community meeting room and adult collections on the second floor for about six weeks.
“We appreciate the public’s cooperation during these periods of temporary inconvenience,” Levinson said.
