A Gloucester County man pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree possession with intent to distribute LSD.

Charles Scherer, 56, of Williamstown, faces a 10-year term under the plea agreement.

The case was sparked April 2, 2024, when postal investigators in Buena Vista Township seized a package sent from the Netherlands, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

The package contained 2,500 perforated tabs on blotter paper that later tested positive for LSD laced with MDMA.

An undercover officer delivered the package to Scherer’s home.

Scherer was seen opening the door, picking up the package and bringing it inside. A search warrant was executed a short time later, and the package found inside the home where Scherer lived alone.

Homeland Security Investigations and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office investigated.

Scherer is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending sentencing set for July 28.
