Camden County man pleads in two Atlantic City theft cases

Tyree Gittens (Atlantic County Justice Facility)

  • Crime-Courts

A Camden County man faces three years in prison after pleading guilty in separate Atlantic City theft cases.

Tyree Gittens, 31, of Blackwood, was first arrested Oct. 9, after police saw him in distress inside a city restaurant.

He told police he was chased inside by  woman with a baton-like stick, according to the report.

The woman told police Gittens stole a package that was delivered outside her home.

He was charged on a summons.

Less than three weeks later, police were called to the Dollar General for a man acting irate and trying to steal items from the store.

Gittens denied trying to steal, police said. He had various identification cards on him, and gave police conflicting names, including Tyree Brewer and Michael Gould.

He pleaded guilty last week to third-degree charges of theft and hindering apprehension, as well as disorderly persons narcotics offenses.

Gittens remains jailed pending his June 13 sentencing.
