A Bridgeton man was sentenced to 12 years in jail after admitting to the armed robbery of a two Atlantic City delivery driver along with his part in the brutal beating of a fellow Atlantic County jail inmate.
Majid Harris, 23, who also has an Atlantic City address, ordered food delivery from an Atlantic City store on Nov. 25, 2023, then robbed the driver at gunpoint.
Four days later, he used the same phone to order delivery from a different Atlantic City store, but with the same result.
Although Harris disguised his face during the robberies, he was ultimately identified and apprehended after an investigation that included reviewing surveillance footage.
Harris has been in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since Dec. 7, 2023.
It was in the jail that he and several others were accused of beating another inmate unconscious June 28, in G-right Pod, according to the affidavit of probable cause previously reported by BreakingAC.
The victim — who has been identified only as D.H. — was left unconscious and bleeding profusely with head trauma, BreakingAC previously reported.
Video from closed-circuit television cameras in the jail were used to investigate the attack, and a dozen men were charged. One had the charges dropped.
The men are seen hitting and kicking the victim while he is on the ground, the affidavit states.
Harris, along with Trevin Allen, Develin Grant and Hamid Webb are seen "stomping the victim's head several times, while he appears to lay unconscious on the ground," the affidavit states.
Harris pleaded guilty in all three crimes in January.
He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence under the No Early Release Act, or 10 years and two months.
He remains jailed pending transfer to state prison.
