A convicted human trafficker did not fight detention in a new case of alleged drug-dealing out of Atlantic City.

Marcus Tukes, 55, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2017, after he pleaded guilty to trafficking an adult for sex.

It was not clear when he was released in that case, which carried no period of parole ineligibility.

But Tukes was arrested again last April, after State Police found 1.7 ounces of suspected cocaine in his shoe after a motor vehicle stop. The woman with him was found with 166 wax folds of suspected heroin that she told police he asked her to hide, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Tukes was not detained in that case. He pleaded guilty March 7, and was awaiting sentencing.

Instead, it was another motor vehicle stop that has him again facing drug charges.

He failed to signal when turning into the Sea Breeze Condominiums on March 20, and was stopped, according to the affidavit.

Tukes was then seen reaching for the console, according to the report. Police heard that he may have a weapon from a carjacking, but no weapon was found in the vehicle.

They did find crack and $1,700 in currency, according to the charges.

A search of his residence led to an airsoft rifle, prescription pills and drug-manufacturing paraphernalia, the report states.

Tukes consented to detention during a hearing Wednesday. He will remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
