Felony criminal charges will not be filed against Atlantic City’s mayor or a councilman in relation to a casino fight, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office has decided.
Complaints of simple assault and harassment filed by three citizens will move forward in municipal court.
Mayor Frank Gilliam and Councilman Jeffree Fauntleroy are accused of throwing punches and threats during an altercation that began inside the Golden Nugget’s Haven Nightclub on Nov. 11.
The men are scheduled for an appearance in North Wildwood Municipal Court on Dec. 11, later than the date on the original summonses.
The attorney general moved the case to Cape May County to avoid any conflict.
