Residents join search for missing Atlantic City man

The search continues for an Atlantic City man who has been missing for about a month.
Robert Jones, 47, was reported missing June 8, after his family was alerted that he had not been around his home in Jeffries Towers.
A Silver Alert was issued for Jones, who had medical ailments that can leave him confused and disoriented. The family is worried that he has not had the medication he needs and could be out there suffering as a result, Celeste Watson said of her nephew.
Jones’ aunt put out a call for help in searching Tuesday. And Ben Vanboerum answered.
While the Atlantic City man doesn’t know Jones or his family, he was moved to try to help.
He lived homeless in the city for three years before finding help at the Rescue Mission, so he said he was familiar with where people might go.
Vanboerum also worked with the mission while he lived there.
He has had his own home and steady employment for the past four years.

As the group set a game plan in motion at the McDonald’s on The Walk on Tuesday morning, Vanboerum talked about places that he was familiar with when he was living on the streets.
“That will be your assignment,” said a grateful Watson.
But after more than 10 hours searching, he hadn’t turned up.
The search is continuing.
Anyone with information about Jones’ whereabouts or who recognizes him is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766 or text tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
They can also call Watson at 609-204-2160.
