Girl killed in Egg Harbor Township crash

A 7-year-old girl was killed in a crash in Egg Harbor Township on Friday night.
It happened moments after another fatal crash in the township.
Police were called to the area of Delilah Road and Elmwood Avenue in the township’s Cardiff section at about 5:30 p.m.
Jabril Williams was heading west on Delilah Road in a Kia Optima, when he crossed into the eastbound lane for an unknown reason, Lt. Stephen Slusarski said.
A witness traveling east saw the Optima cross into her lane and was able to turn right and avoid a collision, according to the report.
But a second vehicle, driven by Decinique Brown, was unable to get out of the way and was struck head-on, Slusarski said.
Williams, 26, of Galloway Township, along with a woman and the 7-year-old girl in his car sustained serious injuries, according to the report.
They were extricated and taken to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus.
The girl was then airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she died of her injuries.
The girl’s name and hometown were not provided.
Brown, 28, of Vineland, also had to be extricated and was airlifted to the Trauma Unit with serious injuries.
Delilah Road was closed in both directions for about four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Assisting at the scene of the crash were the Egg Harbor Township Fire Department and Ambulance Squad, along with EMS from Atlantic City International Airport, Absecon and Pleasantville, and the AtlantiCare Paramedics.
The investigation is being conducted by Officers Pat Daly, Jim Ludwig and Tom Rizzotte. Charges are pending further investigation.
