Teen arrested for attempted murder in stabbing at Atlantic City drive-thru

  • News

An Atlantic City teen has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man in the neck during a fight at a fast food drive-thru.
Police were called to the McDonald's on Arkansas Avenue at 3:38 a.m. Saturday, and found a 24-year-old man wounded, Lt. Kevin Fair said Tuesday. Another man also was injured in the fight.
Officer Ivaylo Ivanov tended to the stabbing victim, who was bleeding heavily, according to the report. The victim was then taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
He is expected to survive.
The altercation began when the suspect's car tried to cut off others already in line for food, according to the investigation.
Several males then got out of the suspect vehicle and started to damage the victim's car, Fair said. That's when the victims confronted the aggressors.
The victim then got back in his car when the 15-year-old suspect approached the window with a knife in his hand, according to the report. The teen allegedly swung the knife, striking the victim, and then dropped the weapon in the victim's car.
Officers Sean McGettigan and Shawn Dansby spotted a vehicle matching the description and stopped it at Indiana and Marmora avenues, Fair said.
The four males inside were detained while officers investigated. The 15-year-old was then identified and arrested.
The other three were released pending further investigation.
He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
