Atlantic City man arrested in shooting of 16-year-old girl, woman

  • News

An Atlantic City man is jailed in a shooting that wounded a teenage girl and a woman in May.
Tyron Outlaw, 44, is accused of firing multiple shots during an argument in the street near his home in the 700 block of North Michigan.
Two ShotSpotter alerts brought police to the area just before 11 p.m. May 18, the affidavit states.
One indicated 11 rounds had been fired, with another recording three, according to the affidavit.
An officer who used to work in Atlantic City but is now in another jurisdiction contacted police with information on Outlaw resided on the street with multiple children, the report reads.
Neighbors told police they heard loud fighting, with witnesses describing Outlaw and confirming his identity through his driver's license photo and a photo on Facebook.
The shooting apparently stemmed from an ongoing dispute that resulted in at least four fights involving girls with Outlaw coming to the scene, the affidavit states.
During this particular altercation, a witness saw Outlaw take a handgun from his shorts, the unidentified person told police.
The witness yelled, "He's got a gun!" and the group turned to leave when shots were fired, the affidavit states.
Police arrived to find evidence of shots fired, but no victims.
A 16-year-old girl and 52-year-old woman later showed up at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds, which were not considered life-threatening.
Outlaw is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession by a person with a drug conviction.
Outlaw was arrested in December, after a drug investigation targeting him. He was released on a summons.
He is currently in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing.

NOTE: The Atlantic County Justice Facility does not release mugshots per an order by the previous county prosecutor.
