Atlantic City man wanted in EHT Walmart robbery, assault

  • News

An Atlantic City man previously charged with attempted murder is now wanted in a robbery and assault at the Walmart in Egg Harbor Township

Matthew Sturdivant, 24, was stopped as he tried to leave the store with unpaid items, Lt. Robert Gray said.

The loss prevention officer told police she approached the suspect as he tried to leave the store at about 2 p.m. Friday.

Sturdivant then pinned her to a wall by her neck and spit on her, according to the report.

He then left in a Hyundai Sonata.

The victim did not have any physical injuries. She was able to provide police with a description of both the suspect and his vehicle, Gray said.

Sturdivant was identified from the information provided. He is charged with robbery, simple assault, and shoplifting.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call township police at 609-927-5200.

Sturdivant was arrested in 2018 in the pistol-whipping of a man in Atlantic City. He allegedly robbed the victim, then shot at him as he ran away. The victim was not struck.

He was arrested after a standoff with police.
