Atlantic City man on probation wanted in drug, gun case

  • News

An Atlantic City man on probation is now wanted after a gun and drugs were found in his impounded vehicle, police said.

TajMalik Harris, 28, was stopped April 4, after committing multiple traffic violations, according to police.

Detectives Alberto Valles and Anthony Abrams pulled him over at 7:46 p.m. in the 1800 block of Arctic Avenue, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

Harris' driver's license was suspended, so the vehicle was towed to the Atlantic City Police Department's Forensics bay, according to the report. Harris was sent on his way.

Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan and his K-9 partner, Gee, were called, and Gee gave an indication that drugs were in the vehicle, Aristizabal said.

Police got a search warrant and found a loaded gun along with several hundred wax folds of suspected heroin packaged for street sale, according to the report.

A warrant was issued for Harris.

He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon during a drug offense, possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a weapon by a certain person not permitted to possess a firearm.

Harris was just sentenced to two years' probation in January for resisting.

He previously served prison time on a weapons offense, stemming from a 2015 arrest.

The then-21-year-old was living in Pleasantville when he was found in possession of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. He was arrested by sheriff's detectives at that time, and charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine.

Harris pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in 2015, with a mandatory 3½ years, records show.

Anyone who knows Harris' whereabouts is asked to call police at 609-347-5780 or the Special Investigations Section at 609-347-5588. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
