LGBTQ+ community invited to 'Come Out and Sea' what Atlantic City neighborhood has to offer

  • Sunday Special

Members of the LGBTQ+ community are being invited to take a tour of the up-and-coming Chelsea neighborhood this week.

The Pride in Home Ownership Tour offers attendees to "Come Out and Sea" the positives of the community with speakers who live there and are LGBTQ+ members.

"Discover the many reasons this thriving and inclusive community is emerging as the ideal investment opportunity for potential homeowners at the Jersey Shore," the invitation says.

"Where else can you walk to the ocean, world-class dining, schools, clubs, A-list entertainment, the ocean and a Ferris wheel from your own affordable home?" asked award-winning comedian Michelle Tomko, who lives in Chelsea with her wife, Jean Burbee.

She pointed Atlantic City's inclusive atmosphere, which includes Judah-Abijah Dorrington, who grew up the city and became its first LGBTQ+ program coordinator last year.

"Businesses are welcoming. There is a queer liaison in City Hall. There are allies in the community," Tomko said. "From the top down, Atlantic City is committed to inclusion."

The tour begins at 2:15 p.m. at Tropicana Atlantic City, and includes a complimentary happy hour at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University featuring local international food offerings and live entertainment.

Free admission to Boogie Nights will give attendees a chance to experience Tropicana Atlantic City’s gay-friendly nightlife and adult scene.

There will also be discounted room rates at the Tropicana for those attending.

The details of the tour route are HERE if anyone wants to meet them along the way.

Speakers begin at 5 p.m. at the Noyes Arts Garage, including Assemblyman Don Guardian, who was the city's first openly gay mayor. Dorrington will also speak, along with Larry Sieg, chief executive officer of MeetAC. There will also be Realtors to talk about real estate deals and financial incentives.

Home ownership is currently possible for $300,000 or less in Chelsea, according to the announcement, which calls it "one of the Jersey Shore's best-kept secrets."
