Tip411 leads to arrest of fugitive couple, gun and drugs

  • News

A tip through Atlantic City anonymous texting application led police to a gun, drugs and a Philadelphia couple wanted in Pennsylvania.

Someone texted Oct. 25, saying that a white vehicle with Pennsylvania plates was carrying guns and drugs, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said. The anonymous tipster also said the occupants were fugitives from Pennsylvania.

Just after 11 a.m., Officer John Bell saw the vehicle and stopped it in the area of Missouri and Atlantic avenues, according to the report.

The driver, Shaquir Atkinson, was found to be a fugitive, and taken into custody without incident, Aristizabal said.

Atkinson, 29, was found with 10 wax folds of suspected heroin.

Shamauri Spruill, the 21-year-old passenger, also was found to be wanted, and was taken into custody.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun reported stolen from Pennsylvania, Aristizabal said. It was fitted with a high-capacity magazine.

Crack cocaine was also found in the vehicle, according to the report.

The details of their charges out of Pennsylvania were not released.

Both were charged and are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
