  • News

An Atlantic City teen has been charged with murder in the death of an Atlantic City man.

Oquan Thomas, 18, is jailed in the killing of Timothy Council Jr.

Council, 27, was found wounded near the High Gate on Absecon Boulevard after police responded to a ShotSpotter audio-gunshot detection alert just before 11 p.m. Monday.

He was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined Council died from a single gunshot wound.

Thomas graduated from Atlantic City High School in June. He is now charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.

It was not clear if any other suspects have been identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
