An Atlantic City man who already served time for attempted murder was sentenced to 48 years in prison after a jury convicted him of gun and drug charges related to running a fentanyl-production facility.
Kevin Davis, now 37, must serve at least half his sentence, or 24 years.
A jury convicted Davis in March on 15 counts, including first-degree maintaining a fentanyl-production facility, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun in the furtherance of fentanyl production and distribution, possession of a handgun by a previously convicted person and resisting arrest by flight.
Davis’ home was searched Oct. 3, 2019, and police found substantial quantity of fentanyl, packaging materials and a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine were found in his bedroom.
Davis fled police on a bicycle, but was arrested a few blocks away, near the Boys and Girls Club on Pennsylvania Avenue.
He had more than 100 folds of fentanyl packaged for sale on him. That led to additional charges, including distribution within a school zone and near a public park.
Davis pleaded guilty to attempted murder in 2005, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison under the No Early Release Act. That as followed by five years of parole supervision.
He also has a pending attempted murder case.
He was not arrested in that case Aug. 28, 2020, after he had been released in the drug and gun case.
This is Davis’ third adult conviction for illegal possession of a handgun.
He will remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility until his transfer to prison.
