Back-to-school event to become annual in Mays Landing

A back-to-school event that included free haircuts and bookbags full of supplies will be an annual event.
Aseealah Rasheedah Davis organized the event through her Agape Water International Safe Haven, bringing together the community to help get kids ready for the return to school.
A-WISH focuses its programs on youth and their families, targeting those ages 11 to 18.
Hair cuts were done by Robert Laws and Mark Forbes. Styling was done by Shakimah Perkins, Natequia Elam, Ms. Valerie, Jamilah Williams, Kyiana Davis and Ms. Shiya.

Mays Landing woman uses writing to help heal self, others
The pandemic turned out to be healing for Aseealah Rasheedah Davis. The Mays Landing woman filled her sleepless nights with prayer. “While in prayer, I would see things that I went through while growing up,” she says. Those stories are now part of a her book, “Her Eyes of Awareness.” “It’s short stories about different things that happened in my life,” she explains. “I talk about when I was molested by my aunt’s boyfriend, my parents’ drug addiction, being in a abusive relationship with my children’s father and how I overcame those situations.” Davis has spoken of her book at…
