An Atlantic City man was arrested with a gun and 31 bags of heroin after police stopped him on his bicycle early Monday morning.
Ramel Bey, 20, was riding without lights or reflectors in the 100 block of North Brighton Avenue at about 2:50 a.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers Jesse Logan and Daniel Kramer tried to stop him in the area where there had been a robbery Aug. 1, around the same time of the morning, according to the report.
Bey ignored Logan's order to stop, and fled. The officers chased him, and he fought them, Fair said.
After a lengthy struggle, Bey was taken into custody. A loaded handgun was found in his waistband, and he had 31 bags of heroin on him, according to the report.
He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 bail on charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of weapon while committing a drug offense, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession within a school zone, and failure to equip bicycle with proper lights and reflectors.
