  • News

An Atlantic City man has pleaded guilty in the 2014 armed robbery of the casino where he previously worked.
Izyiah Plummer, 21, had been fired from Caesars Casino when he and alleged accomplice Aaron Evans entered the casino at about 6:20 a.m. July 21, 2014, wearing masks and gloves.
Plummer pointed a gun at two employees loading cash boxes onto a trolley from a self-redemption terminal, and Evans allegedly took three cash boxes. As they ran, one of them dropped a box, but they escaped with two totaling about $181,200, according to the charges. Nathaniel Greenlee, who previously pleaded guilty, was waiting for them and drove them away.
Plummer pleaded guilty to all of the charges against him, including first-degree armed robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. In exchange for his plea, he faces 15 years in state prison, including nearly 13 years of parole ineligibility when he is sentenced before Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury on Nov. 18.
Greenlee, 23, of Bear, Delaware, drove to Plummer’s apartment in the Venice Park section of Atlantic City, where the group split the money. Police later searched the apartment and found a black ski mask, bullets for a .38 special handgun and $43,900 in cash.At Evans' home, $4,300 in cash was found, according to the state. In the street out front, police found a handle from one of cash boxes.
Greenlee and Donavon Jackson, 22, of Wilmington, Delaware, both pleaded guilty in June and each faces seven years in state prison.Evans, 26, of Atlantic City, has not pled, and faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy.“
Many people have dreams of getting lucky and walking away from a casino with the big jackpot, but unfortunately Izyiah Plummer chose to rely on robbery and violence to make his come true,” said Colonel Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. “Thanks to some great work by the lead State Police detectives and our partners, Plummer won't be planning heists in the near future.”
Attorney General Christopher Porrino said that with this "brazen armed robbery" Plummer showed he’s a dangerous criminal who belongs behind bars.” The lead detectives on the case for the New Jersey State Police Casino Gaming Bureau were Detective Michael Nelson and Detective Sgt. Charles Vicente. The Atlantic City Police Department, Pleasantville Police Department, Delaware State Police and Pennsylvania State Police assisted in the investigation.
