  • News
An 18-year-old Atlantic City man was arrested Monday in a shooting that damaged an occupied vehicle two weeks ago, police said. No one was injured in the incident. A notification from the city's audio gunshot-detection system ShotSpotter brought police to the 600 block of South Drive at about 10:40 p.m. Dec. 14. At the scene, police were told that someone in a vehicle shot at another vehicle with four people inside. They later stopped the car that was shot at, but did not find the suspect vehicle, according to the report. On Monday night, Officer Albert Herbert was on patrol in the 2500 block of Arctic Avenue when he recognized the vehicle, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. He also found the owner, Juan Aquino Silva. An investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit and Detective Pete Calabrese led to criminal charges against Silva. He was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, tampering with evidence and conspiracy. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 bail. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 609-347-5766. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.
