A Somerdale man was killed in a shooting at South Carolina and Baltic Avenue on Tuesday night, Atlantic City police confirmed.
Kevin Ortiz, 20, was found dead of a gunshot wound, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said.
A ShotSpotter notification came in at about 9:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue. Multiple shots were recorded, according to the system. Moments later, an alert came from the 1100 block of Adriatic Avenue.
Five hours before, there was a shooting call in that same area. In that case, no one was struck, but a jitney did take fire. A female passenger suffered a minor injury from broken glass, police said.
