Pleasantville police dog sniffs out drugs during car stop

  • Crime-Courts

A Pleasantville police dog helped sniff out 30 bags of heroin and about 7 grams of crack cocaine, police said.

At 1:44 p.m. Monday, the department's Street Crimes Unit with the Squad 3 patrol units stopped a car at Linden and West Reading avenues, after Marlow Guerrier allegedly made an illegal U-turn.

During the stop, Sgt. Dave Aristizabal and his partner, Dozer, were called to do an open-air sniff of the vehicle, Capt. Matt Hartman said.

Dozer made an indication that there were drugs in the car, and the driver — who was the only person inside — was found in possession of the suspected heroin and crack cocaine, Hartman said.

Police also seized $9,500 in cash.

Guerrier, 29, of Pleasantville, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and a motor vehicle summons.
