Camden man arrested with drugs after running from Atlantic City police

  • News
A Camden man was arrested Saturday morning with more than 600 bags of heroin after running from police in Atlantic City. Detectives Leah Giercyk and Juliann Schwenger saw a drug deal in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue when they tried to stop the two people involved, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Schwenger followed Thomas Wallace into a store, but Wallace ran and pushed Giercyk to the pavement as he fled, according to the report. The detectives chased him, and were able to arrest him with the help of other officers, after Wallace went into School House Apartments. Inside Wallace's backpack, police found 609 individual bags of heroin, 24 grams of cocaine and a quantity of marijuana. He was charged with aggravated assault on an officer, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest, along with three counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute. Wallace was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
