Hamilton Township police are investigating a crash that killed a woman Monday afternoon.
The woman was driving a Toyota Camry west on Route 40 when she crossed over the center line and sideswiped a van heading east, police said.
The Camry continued down Route 40 about a half-mile where it left the road on the west side and struck several trees at milepost 49.1, police said.
The 55-year-old woman from Dorothy in Weymouth Township was partially trapped in the vehicle, where the airbags deployed. She was not wearing her seat belt.
The woman, whose name is not being released pending notification of next of kin, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus in Galloway Township, where she was pronounced dead.
The other driver, 22-year-old Emma Fellers, of Egg Harbor Township, was not injured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Hamilton Township Rescue, AtlantiCare paramedics, Mays Landing fire and the NJ Forest Fire Service assisted at the scene.
