When Randi Carter saw someone she knew outside I the cold, she felt she needed to do something.
That’s when the Pleasantville woman reached out to her cousin Kristin Eason and the two decided to do what they can to help those stuck in the cold as the temperature continues to drop.
As the snow fell Saturday, the women and others went out to Atlantic City and Pleasantville with coats, scarves, gloves, hat and hand warmers to hand out to those who need them.
The third day principle of Kwanzaa is Ujima, which expresses unity, collective work and responsibility, Eason points out in a Facebook post. So, the timing was perfect.
They didn't have much luck with people at the Atlantic City bus terminal, but were able to reach a good amount of people at the Pleasantville station.
"We actually had most of our success at the Atlantic City Library and Renaissance Plaza," Carter said.
Carter works Sunday, but her father will continue the work.

“Just think of the mother waiting at the bus stop with her three small children who only have hoodies on?” said Eason, who lives in Egg Harbor Township.
