Two men were indicted this week in connection with an armed robbery that led to an officer being shot and their alleged accomplice being killed.
Martel Chisholm and Demetris Cross are accused of robbing three teens at gunpoint at about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 3, 2016, along with Jerome Damon.
Officers Thomas McCabe and Joshlee Vadell saw the armed robbery in progress, and drove toward the group.
As Vadell exited the patrol car, he was shot in the head.
The shooter continued firing, and McCabe returned fire.
Damon, 25, of Camden, was struck, and found dead less than two blocks away.
Vadell was rushed to the hospital, and is currently home and in recovery for his injuries.
Chisholm, 30, of Pleasantville, and Cross, 28, of Bridgeton, are currently in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $750,000 bail each.
They are charged with attempted murder, robbery, conspiracy, escape, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
