A Delaware man was arrested over the weekend, after he fought police after punching his girlfriend, according to charges.
Egg Harbor Township police were called to the Days Hotel on Tilton Road at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, in reference to a violent domestic, Lt. Robert Gray said.
Samantha Popkin, 21, of Delaware, had a visible injury after she was stuck in the face and head with a closed fist by her boyfriend, Alexander Kearney, according to the report.
Officers tried to arrest Kearney, but he fought the officers and a police dog for several minutes, Gray said.
Tow officers were injured and the police dog was assaulted, according to the report.
Popkin was treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad for facial injuries and then taken to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point.
Kearney is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, use or threat of violence against a law enforcement officer, purposely causing injury to a police dog and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.
He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $25,000 full bail.
