Atlantic City police arrested two men and seized 628 bags of heroin after residents' complaints.
Special Investigations Section Sgts. Richard Andrews and Daniel Corcoran initiated a surveillance operation in the south block of Iowa Avenue, after complaints about narcotic activity. The sergeants observed Gary Jones loitering on Iowa Avenue for a period of time and then leave in a vehicle. Jones was followed to the 800 block of New Hampshire Avenue where he engaged in a narcotic transaction with Terry Phillips.
Jones was stopped by the detectives and found to be in possession of 12 bags of heroin. Sergeants Andrews and Corcoran stopped Phillips who was in possession of 616 bags of heroin. Both males were arrested.
ARRESTED: Gary Jones, 46, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and contempt of court warrant.
Jones was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
ARRESTED: Terry Phillips, 52, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute, distribution of CDS, and possession of CDS within 500 feet of a public zone.
Phillips was released on a summons with a future court date.
