A Union County man was indicted in the sexual assault of an employee at an Atlantic City motel last summer.
The unnamed employee was attacked by John Ryan when she went to deliver towels to his room at about 4:15 p.m. June 13, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
Another employee found the woman after hearing her muffled screams coming from the room. Ryan, 27, of Cranford, had already fled, Tyner said.
Atlantic City police charged Ryan in July 10, with sexual assault and criminal restraint. He was arrested July 21, and was released after posting the $250,000 bail.
He was indicted Thursday on second-degree sexual assault. He also was indicted on the second-degree charges of criminal restraint and aggravated assault.
The second-degree crime caries a possible prison term of five to 10 years. Third-degree charges have penalties of three to five years, if convicted.
