Pleasantville man arrested in shooting that damaged homes

  • News

A Pleasantville man was arrested Tuesday night, after two homes were damaged by gunfire.
The homes included one on Franklin Boulevard, which had been struck a year ago, striking the woman in the foot as she held her infant grandson, police said.
Police were called to Franklin and Washington Avenue at 7:21 p.m., by several people reporting shots had been fired, Capt. Matt Hartman said.
Two homes had been struck and there were several shell casings in the area, according to the report.
As Patrolman Daniel Davis was searching the Black Horse Pike and Hamden Court, where the suspect was seen running, he was spotted by a man matching the description, who began to run, Hartman said.
Angel Pereira, 20, ran east through Diamond Auto Sales' parking lot holding his waistband and then brandishing a chome-colored semiautomtic .22-caliber handgun, according to the report.
He allegedly then threw the gun into a dumpster.
Davis and Patrolman Joe Gamble took Pereira into custody. He had drugs on him, Hartman said.
Pereira is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a drug crime, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets and possession of a weapon by a convicted person.
