  • News
An Atlantic City man saved a woman after the car she was a passenger in went into the bay off Fairmount Avenue early Sunday morning. Officers were called to the 3600 block at 4:36 a.m., and found the car fully submerged and three people needing medical attention. The driver, a 29-year-old Absecon man, had crashed through the bulkhead and into the bay. T.J. Andrews, who witnessed the crashed, dove in and helped the driver free the passenger, a 28-year-old Absecon woman, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. All three were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. The two men were treated for minor injuries. The woman's injuries are considered serious. The cause of the accident is under investigation by Officer Fitzroy Simpson, including whether drugs or alcohol was involved. The names are not being released at this time since there are no charges, Fair said. A crane was used to remove the car from the water Sunday morning. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 609-347-5744. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.
