A Mays Landing man is charged with two burglaries after he was allegedly caught stealing from a vehicle parked in the Festival Mall parking lot.
Elijah Thomas, 19, was walking through the lot when he found a vehicle with the window partially down, police said. He forced the window down, unlocked the door and took $5 and a pair of sunglasses.
After he was arrested, Thomas was also questioned about the April 10 burglary of a residence on Cologne Avenue in Mays Landing. In that case, the front door was forced open and items taken, police said. Things stolen included jewelry, electronics and sports memorabilia.
He also has pending charges in a commercial burglary from August 2016, and three prior burglary convictions.
Thomas was charged with two counts each of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
He is free on a summons.
