Galloway gas station attendant beat with bat and robbed

Galloway Township police are looking for a suspect in robbery of a gas station attendant using a baseball bat Monday night. Mirz Baig, 58, of Galloway Township, was working inside the booth at the Delta Gas Station on the White Horse Pike just before 9 p.m., when a man approached brandishing a baseball bat, according to police. He struck Baig with the bat several times before going through his pockets and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Baig was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Campus for his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening. The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 35 and 40 with a long, dark-colored beard. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Detective William Schroer at 609-652-3705, ext. 387. Tips can also be sent anonymously to Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
