An Atlantic City man who has not been seen since jumping into the water off Venice Park is still missing.
Damon Malloy, also known as Damon Thompson, had been acting erratically and jumped out of a window when police were called to the 2300 block of Sheldon Avenue just after midnight Monday, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers arrived to find Malloy yelling and behaving unusually, so they called for medical personnel, according to the report.
As the officers approached, Malloy ran and jumped in the water off of Murray Avenue, Fair said.
Malloy began to swim away as officers tried to get him to return to land, Fair said. He continued to swim until the officers lost sight of him.
The Atlantic City Fire Department, New Jersey State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard responded, but Malloy still has not been found. It is not known if he got out of the water.
Anyone with information about this incident or Malloy’s whereabouts is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
