Four teens arrested in car thefts two with stolen guns

  • News
Four Egg Harbor Township teens burglarized several unlocked cars and even stole two, police said. Two of the teens also allegedly had a semiautomatic handgun and high-powered rifle reported stolen from Hamilton Township. If you have valuables in your car, store them out of view or take them in the house with you. What would you do if you found someone's valuables lying around? Report it to the police of course. That is exactly what happened when a
women found a safe in the woods- to return the items to the owner and find the owner. At least we know there are still some good people out there. Darnell Lewis, 18, along with two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old have been charged with possession of two stolen motor vehicles, Egg Harbor Township Detective Capt. Christopher Ruef said. Lewis and one of the 17-year-olds also were charged with possession of the stolen weapons. Police believe the teens went out at night over the past month, searing for parked vehicles that were left unlocked. They would then steal change, electronic equipment and other valuables, Ruef said. In at least two incidents, the keys were left in the unlocked vehicles that were then stolen. Egg Harbor Township Police have investigated 148 reported thefts from vehicles that were left unlocked this year. Northfield and Hamilton Township police assisted in the investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Egg Harbor Township Detective Bureau at 609-927-4051 or Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234. Lewis is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
