A Pomona man who stopped to help a disabled vehicle was struck and killed early Friday morning.
Kenn Chivalette, 52, had stopped to help Brandon Pilecki get the vehicle off of Pomona Road near Vera King Ferris Drive at about 4:30 a.m., when they were struck by a Honda Civic, Galloway Township police said.
Steve Carides Jr., 28, of Egg Harbor Township, was traveling south when he struck the two men and the vehicle.
Chivalette, a father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pilecki, 24, of Howell, suffered minor injuries.
The collision is under investigation and no summonses have been issued at this time.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Southern Regional Medical Center and the Pomona Fire Department also responded to the scene.
