An Atlantic City man set to go on trial Tuesday in an armed home invasion pleaded guilty Monday.
Jury selection was set for Tuesday morning, but instead Akram Daugherty admitted guilt in several cases at 5 p.m. Monday.
Daugherty, 21, pleaded guilty to armed robbery, armed robbery with possession of a weapon, a drug charge and possession of a shank, defense attorney Murray Sufrin confirmed to BreakingAC.
The shank was from a recent incident at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, Sufrin said.
All other charges against him were dismissed, including the fatal shooting of a dog during an armed home invasion on Easter 2014.
Daugherty faces 10 or 11 years in prison when he is sentenced in January.
The state will argue for 11 years. Sufrin will try for 10. Daugherty will have to serve 85 percent of any sentence before he is eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act.
