Four handguns, Xanax found in Atlantic City storage unit

Four handguns and a lot of Xanax were found inside an Atlantic City storage unit, police said. Detective Darrin Lorady, who is assigned to the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force, led the investigation that resulted in a search of the unit at Clayton's Self Storage on Absecon Boulevard, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Inside the unit, Lorady and Special Investigations detectives found four handguns, hollow-point ammunition, a large quantity of Xanax and narcotics paraphernalia, including scales and packaging materials, according to the report. Richard Cobbs, who owns the unit, was charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon now he will possibly have added to his list. Cobbs' criminal history dates to at least 2000, when he pleaded guilty in a robbery causing bodily injury, court records show. The 36-year-old Atlantic City man was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 609-347-5858.
