Resident's complaint leads to drug arrest in Atlantic City

  • News
A Millville man who tried to bike away from police was arrested on drug charges Monday. Officers Ryan Kov and Justin Peyton were called to the beach block of Ocean Avenue just after 6 p.m., by a resident who said someone was selling drugs, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. As soon as the officers arrived, Derrick Jenkins got on his bike and rode away. But the bike did not have proper lights, so the officers stopped him for the violation several blocks away. Jenkins had 51 bags of heroin and small amounts of cocaine and suboxone, according to the report.   He also had a warrant from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office. Jenkins, 54, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession within a school zone and multiple traffic summonses. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
