A section of Route 40 will remain shut down for hours after an allegedly drunken-drunk crash damaged a telephone pole.
Colby Reed, 29, of Mays Landing, was charged with driving under the influence after a crash just before 2 a.m. Monday.
Reed was heading east on Route 40, when she ran off the road near mile post 46 just before 2 a.m., ending up with her car flipped on its roof, police said.
The damage to the telephone pole caused both lanes to be shut down between Route 606 and Route 50, repairs were expected to be lengthy, police said.
The Department of Transportation and New Jersey State Police responded to conduct traffic control.
The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad and Mays Landing Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Reed refused medical treatment.
She was released to a third party pending court.
