Margate police are investigating the assault of a 15-year-old boy at the recreational baseball fields Tuesday night.
Police were called to the fields in the 500 block of Jerome Avenue at 9:45 p.m., police said.
They found the teen with injuries to his face and mouth.
A group of males assaulted him and took his backpack before fleeing, the victim told police.
He was taken by the city Fire Department’s ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus for treatment. He was later released.
It is unknown what the assailants look like or what they actually stole from the victim, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
