EHT man allegedly stole pension checks from juvenile daughters of deceased sergeant

  • News
An Egg Harbor Township man is accused of stealing more than $22,000 in pension money from the children of a deceased Hamilton Township police sergeant. Mark Johnson, 58, is accused of theft and forgery in connection with stealing pension money from the two minor daughters of retired Sgt. James Puccio, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. The six stolen pension checks were never turned over to the girls, and all of the money was deposited into accounts bearing the name “Mark Johnson” and/or his business, Tyner said. Johnson was charged with two counts of third-degree theft by failure to make required disposition of property received and four counts each of fourth-degree forgery and uttering. The arrest is the result of a cooperative investigation between the Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit and Hamilton Township police.
